Our Approach

At Divergent Therapy, we work with families and caregivers to support your child’s development. We know that no one understands your child and family like you do, and we deeply value the role you play as an active and equal partner in the therapy process. By drawing on your knowledge and priorities, we work together to choose approaches and tools that best support your goals.

We follow the Best Practice in Early Childhood Intervention guidelines developed by Early Childhood Intervention Australia (ECIA), which highlight the importance of family-centred, neurodiversity-affirming, inclusive, and evidence-informed approaches. We recognise and respect your expertise as a caregiver, and believe that meaningful outcomes are achieved through genuine collaboration and shared decision-making. Our practice integrates current research, clinical expertise, and the wisdom of your lived experience to provide holistic, responsive support that truly reflects the needs and strengths of your child and family.

We believe that children learn best in the environments where they live, play, and grow. That’s why our services are delivered in your child’s natural settings – at home, in the community, or in early learning environments. We appreciate the unique insight you have into your child’s world and see you as a trusted guide and collaborator in shaping supports that truly fit your family. We aim to equip the important adults in your child’s life with the tools, strategies, and confidence to support their development within everyday routines and relationships.

How we can help

At Divergent Therapy, we support children aged 0 to 9 with a variety of developmental differences, including Autism, ADHD, Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), sensory processing differences, and developmental delays.

We do this by partnering with parents and caregivers to build their confidence, connection, and capacity to support their child’s development within the rhythms and routines of daily life.

While we specialise in early supports for neurodivergent children, we do not offer specialised equipment or home modification services, and may not be the right fit for children with complex physical or postural needs.

Fees & Costs

NDIS

We accept self-managed and plan-managed NDIS funding. As Divergent Therapy is not a registered NDIS provider, we cannot accept NDIA-managed (agency-managed) plans.

Private

You may be able to claim a portion of therapy fees through your private health fund, depending on your individual provider. Full payment is required at the time of the session, and a receipt will be provided for you to submit your claim.

Medicare

Rebates are available through a Chronic Disease Management Plan provided by your GP. These plans can allow you to claim partial reimbursement for five therapy sessions within a calendar year.
